Surrey Christian School is a PreK-12 school of over 1,300 students approximately 30 minutes outside of Vancouver. Our mission statement, “Educating for wholeness by engaging God’s world in the servant way of Jesus,” shapes everything we do. There are over 180 different churches represented in Surrey Christian School, a non-denominational Christian school with an open enrollment policy governed by a board of directors representing the Surrey Christian School Society membership. Education Assistant

We are looking for a 60% Education Assistant to join our team in January of 2023. As Education Assistant, your responsibilities will include working with students with special needs and/or other learning needs. This could include working in a classroom while supporting multiple students or working with students who need 1-1 support.

The successful applicant will:

  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a team
  • Provide classroom support, working with small groups or with individual students
  • Understand elementary curriculum and be able to modify and adapt work
  • Build positive relationships with a variety of students
  • Keep records of IEP goals, documenting student progress
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Assist in implementing a behaviour support plan when necessary

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education Assistant Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Strong professional references
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, inclusive work environment

Our Learning Support Services Department is accepting applications for a full-time Learning Support Services Teacher to join our Secondary Campus team to cover a maternity leave from December 1, 2022 until December 2023.

Surrey Christian School’s Learning Support Services is committed to empowering students to reach their potential as unique learners who bear the image of Christ. Through purposeful inclusion we encourage students to develop their gifts, become self-advocates, and gain independence as valued members of their communities.

The Learning Support Services teacher, as part of a team, is responsible for overseeing the development and supporting the implementation of Individualized Education and Learning Support Plans for students with exceptionalities. The LST will also be responsible for leadership and supervision for Education Assistants at the Secondary Campus, as well as being part of Surrey Christian School’s K-12 Learning Support Services team.

We are seeking applicants who:

  • Are British Columbia certified teachers, or Independent School certified teachers
  • Have coursework in Special Education
  • Have work experience with students with exceptionalities
  • Have good communication skills
  • Are great team players
