From Generation to Generation  

As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Surrey Christian School, we have the joy of looking back over decades of God’s faithfulness. In the theme of “Made in God’s Image,” we are reminded that each person in our community—students, parents, staff, alumni, and supporters—has been uniquely created by God with a purpose.

In the theme of “Made in God’s Image,” we are reminded that each person in our community—students, parents, staff, alumni, and supporters—has been uniquely created by God with a purpose. It’s a powerful reminder that God’s hand has been over this school for more than sixty years continually guiding, nurturing, and transforming each of us.

As I reflect on this milestone, I am reminded of Philippians 1:6: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” This verse speaks to God’s ongoing work in each of us, both individually and as a community. It encourages and reminds us to trust in His perfect timing, knowing that His plans for us are not only for today but for the many years ahead. As we journey forward, God’s work is not finished—He is continually shaping us, molding us, and drawing us closer to Him.

When we look back a year from now, ten years from now, or even sixty years from now, I pray we will be able to see how God has been at work.

My deep hope for our community is that the Spirit of God would continue moving in and through us, transforming us to be more like Jesus. I pray that we will be filled with faith and trust in God’s good purposes, even when we cannot see the full picture. That in every person, every situation, and every opportunity, we would be able to see through God’s lens—seeing each challenge as a moment to grow, each joy as a reminder of His grace, and each person as beloved by Him.

When we look back a year from now, ten years from now, or even sixty years from now, I pray we will be able to see how God has been at work. That we will recognize His transforming power in our hearts, minds, and spirits, strengthening us, shaping us, and calling us forward with purpose. As we celebrate this anniversary, may we also look forward with anticipation to what He will continue to do in us and through us.

As Ephesians 3:20-21 says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” May this truth remind us that God’s work in our community is ongoing and His purposes for us are greater than we could ever imagine.
