Early Learning Centre

Children are natural learners and creation enjoyers of God’s world. Our mission at Surrey Christian Early Learning Centre is to offer safe, diverse and experiential learning opportunities to recognize the full potential and individuality of each child.

We believe each child is created in the image of God and has an important and unique role to play in sharing His redeeming love with the world around them. What is early learning? Fred Rogers said it best: “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” Open-ended play experiences give children an opportunity to build a strong social/emotional foundation and it’s how they engage and make sense of God’s world. Play fosters creativity and imagination, as well as pre-literacy and language skills, preparing children for more structured learning later in life. Play happens here!

Our early learning program includes:

  • Preschool-based curriculum (story time and prayer, free play, math, science, active outdoor play and gym time)
  • Music (lots of singing and movement, exploring the various types of voice timbres, learning the four families of instruments & playing them while learning musical concepts)
  • Sign Language
  • Library (story time, library skills and borrowing books)
  • Fun Family Phonics (playful introduction to the alphabet)

“Our deep hope is that each child knows they are loved and can show love to others and that they can engage in experiential, interactive play and grow in the knowledge that they are created in the image of God.”

Ingrid Fritsch, Director of Early Learning
