Sylvia has been the Director of Education Support Services at Surrey Christian School since 2011, and prior to that she worked at Fraser Valley Christian High School in various roles. Sylvia is also a Learning Associate for SCSBC and serves on the board of Global Partners in Education. She holds an Education Degree from the University of Alberta and recently graduated with a Masters in Leadership from Royal Roads University. Sylvia is passionate about helping others flourish and loves working with families and staff to create unique learning opportunities for students. Sylvia is married to Jeff, an alumnus, and they have three daughters, the last of which will graduate from Surrey Christian School this year. Sylvia enjoys reading a good book, spending time with family, and long road trips.
As Director of Learning Support Services, Sylvia leads the design and implementation of the K-12 Special Education and Learning Assistance (SPED/LA) program. She sets the vision, oversees Individual Education Plans (IEPs), supports staff and students, and ensures effective communication with families and the school community. Sylvia also advocates for inclusive education, coordinates professional development, and manages the SPED/LA budget and resources.
