Marcus Todd

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, SECONDARY CAMPUS

mtodd@surreychristian.com

Marcus has been a part of the Surrey Christian community since 2017 and has spent most of the past six years teaching Grade 7 at the Cloverdale Campus. Marcus’s passion for working with children and youth began long before teaching. Since graduating high school, he has worked in church, summer camp, and school settings as Director of Youth and Worship, Summer Program Director, School Board member, as well as various other roles. Marcus’s favourite part of teaching at Surrey Christian School is being able to authentically connect the “stuff” of the curriculum to the greater “story” of God and his people. He is most passionate about helping to restore peace (shalom) to broken situations, and empowering students to do the same.

Marcus has enormous gratitude for all of the teachers, professors, and mentors who have helped him grow throughout the years, especially those at Simon Fraser University, Regent College, and Dordt University. Marcus is excited to join the team over at the Secondary Campus, and is looking forward to meeting lots of new students as well as catching up with some of his past Grade 7 students. At home Marcus loves making memories with his wife (Chelsea) and children (Aurora and Micah) usually involving rollerblading, baking, playing Nintendo, or making music. In the summer, Marcus’s happy place is at his parent’s lake house on Stump Lake.

What We Do

He addresses student issues, leads restorative practices, and coordinates community-building activities such as chapel services and weekly programs. He also works with staff on professional development and school-wide initiatives to ensure a supportive school environment.
