Lars was first drawn to Surrey Christian School when he happened upon part of the school’s mission statement over 10 years ago, “Educating for Wholeness.” He loves seeing this mission lived out among the students and staff, and has spent the last few years using digital storytelling to share highlights with the SCS community. Lars is thrilled to be at a school that cares about wholistic education and invests in the overall growth and wellbeing of students.

Lars’ path to Christian educational leadership started with an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and English followed by several years of facilitating a discipleship school program for high school graduates. He desired a stronger background for his educational work, and so completed an MA in Christian Studies at Regent College before returning to UBC for his Bachelor of Education. After teaching for several years, Lars has held a variety of leadership roles at SCS including in the Education Support Services department, Storytelling and Communications, and now as the Secondary Campus Principal.

Away from school, you can find Lars looking for his next steel frame bike, travelling with his wife, and reading movie reviews.
